Many municipalities require a means of disconnecting batteries from the charge bus (rectifier plant) if hydrogen is detected. For Emergency Switch (mushroom switch) operation, it is preferred to drive each string disconnect’s EPO input with an isolated relay. Wiring emergency switches to disconnects in sites with many battery strings can be complicated and unreliable. The EPO Control System allows a single mushroom switch or other dry contact input to reliably and immediately trip multiple disconnects.
The EPO Control System simplifies EPO and hydrogen alarm control wiring and features a NEMA plastic enclosure that’s easy to mount. It also provides repeated alarm outputs for monitoring by an alarm monitoring system.
The EPO Control System can be powered by redundant DC feeds and will operate reliably with input power in the range of 24-60 volts. The power inputs are fuse protected.
